Over the past months, we tested several new image-analysis systems across wildlife, travel, architecture, vehicles, people, products and difficult stock photography subjects.
The result is a major improvement to the engine behind MetaMagic: more precise descriptions, stronger keywords, better recognition of visible details and faster metadata generation. Just as importantly, the new system is more cost-efficient. Instead of changing the familiar price points, we increased the number of photo generations included in every pack and introduced a new Pro option.
What has improved?
The update focuses on the parts of AI photo metadata that matter most in real workflows: accuracy, relevance and consistency. In our internal comparison tests, the new system performed better at understanding the main subject, describing the scene and identifying useful visual details without losing the speed required for batch processing.

One workflow, two ways to use it
MetaMagic is available directly inside Lightroom Classic and through the MetaMagic Web App. Both use the same credit balance, so you can generate metadata where it fits your workflow best.
Use the plugin when you want metadata written directly into your Lightroom catalog. Use the web app when you want a fast browser-based workflow without opening Lightroom.
More generations at the same prices
MetaMagic remains a pay-as-you-go service. There is no monthly subscription, purchased credits never expire, and the established price points remain available. The difference is that every pack now includes substantially more photo generations.
The Starter pack has increased from 400 to 1,500 generations while remaining $10. Standard has increased from 2,000 to 8,000 generations at the same $45 price. The previous $199 high-volume pack has grown from 10,000 to 45,000 generations and is now called Studio.
We have also introduced the new Pro plan: 20,000 photo generations for $99. It fills the gap between Standard and Studio for photographers who process large batches but do not yet need the biggest pack.
What the change means in practice

Credits never expire. There is no subscription. One credit equals one complete photo generation, including keywords, title and caption. Every pack includes all MetaMagic features, and checkout is handled securely through Stripe.
Why lower pricing matters for stock photographers
For stock photography, editorial archives and large Lightroom catalogs, metadata is not a one-time task. Every new batch needs titles, descriptions and keywords before it can be searched, delivered or uploaded to an agency. Even a small price difference per image becomes significant when processing thousands of photographs.
With the new Studio rate, 45,000 complete photo generations cost $199 — about $0.0044 per photo. That makes AI-assisted keywording practical not only for selected hero images, but also for older archives and full commercial collections that would otherwise remain poorly described.

AI metadata is useful for more than stock agency uploads. Accurate IPTC metadata makes Lightroom catalogs easier to search, helps teams identify images faster and creates a stronger foundation for digital asset management.
