Batch Review is a Preview feature. It works with photographs already selected in Lightroom Classic. Your originals stay in Lightroom and are not replaced. Changes are written to the catalog only when you explicitly save them. Manual review, filtering, Collections and CSV preparation do not use MetaMagic credits; optional AI corrections use credits only when requested.
How Batch Review works

The workflow is designed for large selections. Instead of opening one photograph at a time, you can inspect the whole job, isolate the problem groups and make only the corrections that are actually needed.

0 Open from Lightroom

Start with the photographs you already selected.

Select the photographs in Lightroom Classic, then open Library → Plug-in Extras → Batch Review. MetaMagic reads the selected catalog metadata and opens the Batch Review workspace.

  • No separate import: Batch Review works with the Lightroom selection.
  • Originals stay local: the workflow references your existing Lightroom photographs.
  • One command: Batch Review is available directly beside Generate Metadata with MetaMagic.
Batch Review is launched from Lightroom Classic's Plug-in Extras menu.
1 Choose rules

Review against the destination you actually use.

Select a built-in stock-agency profile or use your own limits. Batch Review immediately evaluates keyword counts, title and description requirements against those rules.

  • Agency profiles: switch between supported destinations without rebuilding your workflow.
  • Custom presets: save your own keyword and text limits for repeated jobs.
  • Optional CSV: prepare the agency CSV only when you need it — it is not required for normal review.
The rule profile determines what counts as Ready and what needs attention.
2–3 Organise and review

See the problem groups before touching the metadata.

Batch Review can keep a Lightroom Collection Set updated with Ready and problem groups. The review counters then show the state of the entire selection, while filters let you jump directly to missing keywords, too few or too many keywords, missing text and other rule violations.

  • Ready / Needs Attention: totals update as corrections are made.
  • Problem filters: select only the photographs with the same issue.
  • Bulk actions: checked photographs can receive labels or supported metadata corrections together.
  • Collections reference originals: no duplicate JPEGs are created just to organize review status.
Status Collections and problem filters make very large Lightroom selections manageable.
4 Fix, save and export

Make the corrections, then decide when Lightroom changes.

Once you click a problem group — for example Too many keywords — Batch Review can show just the matching photographs. Every photo card keeps the image preview, filename, keyword count, title and description status, current issue and Lightroom color label visible. Check only the photos you want, edit one photograph individually or apply a supported action to the selected group. Optional AI keyword correction can then remove the least relevant excess keywords before you save the approved changes back to Lightroom.

When your destination uses a supported CSV workflow, Batch Review can prepare that file alongside the normal Lightroom JPEG export. The CSV is prepared for the contributor workflow; MetaMagic does not automatically submit your files to the stock agency.

  • Manual editing first: title, description and keyword corrections stay under your control.
  • AI only when requested: AI keyword correction is optional, not automatic.
  • Save when ready: review first, write back to Lightroom when you choose.
The selected-photo view makes it easy to see which photographs have the same problem and apply a correction only to that group.

Edit title, caption and keywords individually, then apply supported actions to checked photographs or the current problem group.

Labels and Collections

Apply Lightroom color labels and maintain Ready and problem Collections inside your chosen Collection Set without making duplicate image files.

05 · CORRECT

Manual first, AI when useful

Correct metadata yourself, or use optional AI keyword correction when excess keywords need a relevance-based decision rather than simple trimming.

06 · EXPORT

Optional agency CSV

Prepare supported agency fields during review, then download the CSV when you reach export while Lightroom handles the JPEG export itself.

Fields that match the destination
Where supported, prepare categories, editorial status, illustration, mature-content and release information. Apply common values to a group and keep photo-specific exceptions.
Checks before download
Confirm JPEG filenames, detect duplicates and identify missing required fields before creating the CSV. The CSV must still be imported through the contributor portal supported by that agency.

Filter problems, check photographs, edit individual metadata or perform supported actions on selected groups.

STEP 04

Save and export

Write approved changes to Lightroom, open Lightroom Export for JPEGs and download the matching CSV when required.
