MetaMagic has always focused on producing useful titles, captions and keywords directly inside Lightroom Classic. But a large shoot still needs a final check: one photograph may be missing a title, another may exceed an agency's keyword limit, and a third may need different submission fields from the rest of the batch.
Batch Review Preview brings that final check into the same MetaMagic plugin. It reads the current Lightroom selection, compares every photograph with the rules you choose and turns the result into a workspace where the exceptions become easy to find.
It starts with the photos already selected in Lightroom
There is no separate import workflow. Select the photographs in Lightroom Classic, then open Library → Plug-in Extras → Batch Review. MetaMagic uses that current selection as the Batch Review job.
One command, directly beside MetaMagic generation.
The Batch Review command sits in Lightroom's Plug-in Extras menu. Your originals stay in Lightroom; Batch Review works with the photographs and metadata already in the catalog.
Choose the rules before you review
Version 1.6 includes built-in metadata-limit profiles for 13 destinations. A Custom profile is also available when a client, archive or agency needs different limits.
Agency profile, limits and CSV choice in one place.
The Shutterstock example shows the keyword minimum and maximum, title and description limits, custom-preset controls and the optional switch for agency CSV preparation. These rules determine what counts as Ready and what needs attention.
These profiles are validation rules. They help identify likely problems, but they do not upload to or synchronize with an agency. Contributor requirements can change, so the final portal check remains important.
A faster way to find the exceptions
Instead of opening every photograph, Batch Review gives the whole selection a status. Ready, Needs Attention and Selected counters update as the job changes, while issue filters let you isolate:
- photographs with no keywords;
- too few or too many keywords for the selected rules;
- missing titles or descriptions;
- titles or descriptions that exceed the chosen limits;
- photographs already ready for the next step.
Collections and problem filters stay connected.
In this example the Lightroom Collection Set is 2025. Batch Review shows 482 total photographs, 312 Ready and 170 Needs Attention, then lets you filter No keywords, Too few, Too many, Text problems or Ready.
Work only on the photographs behind a problem count
Click a problem group such as Too many keywords and Batch Review shows the matching photographs. Each photo card keeps the preview, filename, keyword count, title and description status, current issue and Lightroom color label visible. Check only the photographs you want, then edit one image or apply a supported action to the selected group.
Manual correction first, AI only when it helps
Most Batch Review work is local and does not need AI. You can remove keywords manually, trim a list to the selected limit, change text, apply Lightroom labels and organise Collections without using credits.
When a photograph has many excess keywords and simple trimming would remove the wrong terms, Fix excess keywords with AI asks MetaMagic to choose the least useful keywords. The maximum cost is shown before the operation starts and the result remains reviewable before it is saved.

Only successful corrections count. Failed or incomplete photographs are not charged.
Lightroom remains the source of truth
Approved title, caption and keyword edits are saved to the Lightroom catalog. Batch Review can also apply color labels and create or update status Collections inside a Collection Set you choose. These Collections contain references to the original photographs; they do not create duplicate JPEG files.
That makes it possible to leave Batch Review with a practical Lightroom structure such as Ready to Publish, Needs Attention, Missing Title or Too Many Keywords.
Optional CSV preparation
CSV is a choice at the start of the workflow, not a requirement at the end. If a destination benefits from a CSV, turn it on in Step 1, select the format and fill supported fields during review. You can also enable it later without restarting the session.
Version 1.6 contains verified CSV layouts for:

- Adobe Stock;
- Pond5;
- Vecteezy;
- Dreamstime;
- Freepik Contributor;
- Envato Elements Photos.
A Universal / Archive CSV is available for record keeping or workflows that need a neutral spreadsheet. Supported destination fields may include categories, editorial status, illustration, mature-content and release information. Before download, Batch Review checks filenames, duplicates and missing required values.

Designed for large selections
The review page opens without waiting for every thumbnail. Lightweight previews are generated locally and appear progressively, while the interface is cached for faster repeat launches. Original photographs remain on the computer, and temporary previews are protected by the active session.
How to start
- Install or update MetaMagic 1.6.
- Select the photographs in Lightroom Classic.
- Open Library → Plug-in Extras → Batch Review.
- Choose an agency profile or custom limits.
- Optionally choose a Lightroom Collection Set and CSV preparation.
- Filter, review, correct and save the approved changes.
Batch Review is intentionally marked as Preview because this release is the beginning of the workflow, not the end. Feedback from real catalogs and agency submissions will help shape the final version.
